Strategicon Sold!
LOS ANGELES -- November 11, 2006 -- Strategicon and its three Los Angeles-based game conventions have been sold to Knight Errant Enterprises, LLC, of Long Beach. Orccon, Gamex and Gateway are under new management starting in 2007.
"We are proud to have the opportunity to continue delivering the gamers of Southern and Central California the long-standing traditions of Strategicon," said Eric Aldrich, the new manager of the three conventions. "We look forward to serving and expanding the gaming community in the nation's second largest market."
The new ownership and management group emphasized the friendly nature of the acquisition and their commitment to maintaining continuity. Most of the current Strategicon staff is staying on, including Operations Coordinator Norm Carlson. All previously sold season passes will be honored and all existing deals with exhibitors are unaffected.
"Our goal is to maintain the strengths and best traditions of the Strategicon conventions, while working hard to give them a renewed dose of energy and enthusiasm," Aldrich said.
"Starting with Orccon we're planning to take advantage of running three associated cons in the same locale by offering continuing role playing campaigns, linked wargame and miniatures scenarios, plus a variety of surprises," said Aldrich. "We've got something unique to the nation -- we want to take advantage of that, and build upon it. This really hasn't been done at these conventions since the 1980s."
